In July 2012 Dayle Bayliss won the East Anglian Daily Times Young Business Person of the Year, this post looks at the year following this win and a reflection on some of the amazing things that have happened.
After winning the award there was a lot of interest in the way we run the business and what it is as company that makes us different. As a team of Construction and Design Consultants we offer Architectural Design, Project Management and Surveying services, but with a difference. We believe in knowledge sharing and collaborative working, this is with every part of the project team and the client, this ensures true engagement and an understanding of the project process. This way of approaching projects combined with the success of the Young Business Person of the Year award meant that we were further recognised by Archant Group and awarded the Local Business Accelerator award for Suffolk in February 2013. This gave us 12 weeks of exposure in the East Anglian Daily Times and the Ipswich Star. A mix of editorials and advertising really started to raise the profile of the company as well as being able to share some of our knowledge, not only in these publications but also on the website and social media, a key part of the way we do business. The Local Accelerator Award also gave us 12 weeks of mentoring support from the Eastern Enterprise Hub. This has us really focus on what is great about our business and how we build on this success.
You may have seen in earlier blogs that in March 2013 the RICS wrote a piece on one of our projects, West Street Vineyard, and the success as the Young Business Person of the Year, all a result of winning this prize. As a start up business in the construction sector a further piece was written by Les Pickford in June 2013 on the top tips for start up businesses in the construction sector and we featured as a case study in the RICS Construction Journal.
Our approach to business and this success in a downturn has led to further interest in the company and resulted in Dayle being asked to speak at the New Anglia LEP Growth summit in June 2013 on the future of the entrepreneur, again you may have seen the blog on this previously. The next adventure for the company is being involved in the sponsorship and judging of the Suffolk Property Awards, so keep an eye out on this next chapter in the business.
To be involved in all these exciting things over the past 12 months and the opportunities it has given us has seen the company go from strength to strength and we thank all those that have recognised what it is we do and how we do it.
