We are pleased to announce that our project @TheRec won the Regeneration Award at the East of England RICS Awards. Up against 5 other shortlisted projects the regeneration category honours exceptional improvements to urban, rural or coastal areas. The judges were looking for evidence to show that the scheme has conserved or improved the built or natural environment in a way that has contributed to the viability of the area.
The judges said “The recreational ground in Stowmarket had experienced various problems, facilities were lacking and the public convinenice was in need of major work. The innovative and eye-catching use of containers to create a new cafe and meeting space, together with toilet facilities, has created a major change in the character and use of this recreation area. As a result, it has regenerated the use of this public open space.”
We are all proud of what this project has achieved, a real collaboration with Stowmarket Town Council and Menta, that has shown team work to deliver the cafe and bring enterprise to the recreation ground.
